Deer Population
A helicopter count of the Mid-West was carried out in spring 2021. Photography was used to capture large groups of deer which could not be counted from the helicopter. This count provided an average deer density of just over 8 deer/sq km over the DMG’s area. The previous count in 2017 provided an average deer density of 11 deer/sq km.
